The truth comes out! When I’m doing translation work on manga, I don’t do anything special to organize my notes. I just open up a window in Wordpad Notepad —because I’m the high-techest person what ever lived— and start typing away. The only thing special is my notation system I use to keep track of text placement and that took all of like two minutes to devise before going on to be used in five-plus years worth of projects at this point.
I guess this is the part where I mention that Chapter 1 for In Our Wake, the time travelling emotional roller coaster of a series by Kumichi Yoshizuki that I’ve been dabbling away at, will hopefully be online soonish. If you want a good idea of what the series is about, there are two standalone prequel chapters I put out relatively recently on my translation Tumblr blog that will both get you up to speed on the concept and likely make you feel feels. If you wish you had more manga in English than just your typical Shounen Jump fare, this is a great taste for what adults in Japan get to dive into! It’s a special series to me and I hope my translation gets that across, should you choose to give it a shot.
